Yi You Taing

This is the design of a playground with a café in the middle. The playground has a pastel colour palette giving a nostalgic and dreamy feeling when using the space.

The designer wants the user to feel a sense of nostalgia and bring back memories from childhood moments. It is a colourful, muted palette, which gives children the excitement and attraction of colours while also keeping it calm and relaxing. The circular layout is inspired by Isamu Noguchi’s work, Playscapes

It gives a circular flow in the playground, which helps with overcrowding of people. The café is mainly designed for parents to wander around while keeping an eye on their children in the playground, which explains the café being in the middle, helping parents to overlook the children around. The designer’s aim of the playground is to design a more innovative and playful design to the current playgrounds that exist as they tend to be very old and rusty.
