Focusing on menswear and womenswear, I have expanded my knowledge of both fields, learning new techniques and construction methods for each speciality, resulting in a well-rounded knowledge of construction. For both projects I chose to work on an AUB Productions show, working collaboratively in an environment mimicking industry. I was also fortunate enough to gain dressing experience with amateur dramatic groups, professional companies and AUB Productions.
Throughout my degree, I was able to hone my technical sewing skills and improve my knowledge of historical construction while also enriching my knowledge through historical research to create accurately constructed garments.
For my first project of third year, I constructed an 18th century suit for James in Wolves of Willoughby Chase, consisting of an 18th century coat with collar, waistcoat, breeches, and cravat.
For my final project, I worked on the costume for Domenica in La Casa Nova, constructing an 18th century gown consisting of a panelled bodice with cartridge pleated overskirt, petticoat, underskirt, pocket hoops, shawl, and headpiece.
