Altar Of Assemblage
Poppy Parfitt is a Bournemouth-based artist who explores themes of witchcraft, spirituality, energy and memory hoarding. She’s a multidisciplinary artist who creates with mediums of video, performance, textiles and sculpture. Her final degree show work is comprised of sound, video, sculpture and found objects.
Altar Of Assemblage is a multimedia, interactive installation work. The altar encourages the audience to sit on the floor and be present rummaging through the found images, listening to the taped stories and interviews on the MP3 player, as well as engaging with the video before them. The work explores themes of hoarding and collecting, what it means to hold the images and objects of other people’s lives and how we, as the holders, praise and covet these vestiges.
