I have a specific interest in scenic art and set design. I recently worked on AUB Productions' A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Aileen Gonsalves. My role was associate set designer as well as scenic supervisor. This was a great opportunity to exercise scenic painting techniques and develop new scenic processes. Previously, I held the responsibilities of prop and puppet maker and scenic artist on various AUB Productions shows. I designed a separate set model for A Midsummer Night’s Dream displaying various technical theatre components, such as a revolving stage.
Alongside the Shakespeare production, I worked on a personal project that explored festival spaces within the theme of '60s and '70s Americana. I am interested in how performance space and audience actively interact with one another – the immersive set model aims to explore this.
Plans after degree
I plan to travel to southeast Asia after graduating and hope to explore different performance and design cultures. I look forward to looking into industry jobs on my return – I think it would be amazing to both travel and do scenic art and set design. I am keen to explore seasonal festival design jobs or placements abroad in film or theatre.
