During this time of civil unrest with racist and anti-racist riots and protests across the country, we want to reassure all current and future students, and all our staff and partners, that we are prioritising the safety and wellbeing of you all.
We are very concerned about the situation and remain extremely vigilant. Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) values freedom of speech, and pride ourselves on our inclusive and international community.
We support the right to protest, and the right for people to express their opinions, but we have a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, hate crime, intimidation, and racism. If you have experienced or witnessed any acts of hate crime at AUB, we urge you to report this on our Report + Support page where you can report incidents anonymously if you prefer.
During this time, please be mindful when travelling around the local area, especially in town centres. If you’re a student and have any concerns about safety on campus, please call 01202 363780. You can also find a range of resources on our Student Services pages including access to counselling and support.
If you are away from campus, please dial 999 to contact the police in an emergency. If you need to speak to the police, but it is not an urgent situation, please call 101.
As the country unites against intolerance, we ask that we all look out for one another and check in on the wellbeing of colleagues and friends. We stand with our current and future students and staff, to say you are always very welcome here. We hope you don’t judge the UK on the actions of a few, we are very proud of our multicultural society and welcome you with open hearts and arms.
