Do more than attend: Live
We want students to live life to the full, on campus and off.
This shouldn’t be difficult when you’re surrounded by the New Forest, great beaches, and World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Bournemouth boasts a great nightlife and culture too. Oh and London is just two hours away.
BA (Hons) Commercial Photography students have been working with Turlin Moor Youth Centre.
The 4 week project was part funded by Poole Housing Partnerships LTD and AUB.
A giant retro ghetto blaster will be seen on the roads of Bournemouth for the next academic year, thanks to an innovative bus design from AUB.
Unveiled today, the wrapped 11m x 4m double-decker bus has bass speaker cones for wheels, a tape deck between its windows and is covered with over 80 dials, switches and speakers. The long top window takes the place of an AM/FM radio display.
Count On Me is a community campaign designed to bring the people of Bournemouth together in a collective way of counting to show that we care, and that we can make a difference.
The campaign is run by Angela Fendley, who began her studies at the Arts University Bournemouth in 2011 as a mature student studying a part-time Foundation Diploma in Art & Design. She enjoyed this so much she stayed on to complete a BA (Hons) Visual Communication.
Both the CRAB Drawing Studio and the Student Services Building have won at the RIBA South West Awards 2016.
The Drawing Studio was designed and completed by renowned architect and AUB alumnus and Honorary Fellow, Professor Sir Peter Cook RA and his office CRAB (Cook Robotham Architectural Bureau). It was officially opened on 3rd March 2016 by Dame Zaha Hadid who closed her speech with “I simply love this building.”
Students from AUB have taken part in Bournemouth Student Pride celebration.
The LGBT event, which took place on 23rd February, saw students from AUB, Bournemouth University and Bournemouth and Poole College come together to celebrate.
Ten students from BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design have been working with THAT Group to design, develop and build an information kiosk for the Lower Gardens Ice Rink.
Student Jane Lee tells us about the project:
BA (Hons) Film Production student Adrian Cabello has created a time lapse video that explores new perspectives of Bristol.
Adrian said: “This was a personal project using the time-lapse photography technique, of which I have worked on for the past few years. The scenes were shot at different heights exploring new perspectives of the city. The idea behind the video was to create a ‘day in the life’ format from dawn to dusk.
Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) have designed a new bus livery on the dedicated Uroutes, as part of the university bus service, in partnership with Bournemouth University (BU) and more bus.
The new bus, which is covered in variations and interpretations of the letters A and B, celebrates AUB’s commitment to helping students on their creative journey from A to B.
BA (Hons) Photography student Radha Datta has been working on a coffee table book with the State Government of Madhya Pradesh documenting the history of Ujjain in India and what the Mahakumbh means to the city.
This week the book was unveiled by the Prime Minister of India.
BA (Hons) Creative Events Management student.
“I am Dorset born and bred so I have a slightly biased opinion of the beautiful county! After spending most of my childhood growing up in various places, I was excited to find a University in my hometown offering the course I wanted to complete. I’m a country girl, so having no city in Dorset is perfect, if you don’t mind the hustle and bustle of a city; London is a short two-hour train journey away.
BA (Hons) Acting student.
“During my final year at college I was really unsure about whether to go to University or Drama School to train in Acting.
The challenge: Making Poole a Dementia Friendly Community and Environment.
Students from BA (Hons) Modelmaking, BA (Hons) Architecture, BA (Hons) Interior Architecture, BA (Hons) Graphic Design and BA (Hons) Fashion are working in cross-course collaborative teams on a 24-hour design challenge.
