Freshers 2016

Freshers’ Fortnight is run by AUB Students’ Union (AUBSU). You can get the latest info on events on the official Facebook Event, and you can visit the SU website. Please be aware that the only official events will be run by your Students’ Union. Many promotional organisations will advertise Bournemouth Fresher events, but please be advised these are separate to the University.

Alongside AUBSU events, there is also:

Students’ Union

The Arts University Bournemouth Students’ Union (AUBSU) mission is to be the voice of change for students at AUB; working together to enrich their lives and offering services which improve their experiences. Our vision is, by 2017, to be recognised as a respected, sustainable and thriving Students’ Union, offering students a powerful voice and valuable support so that they can flourish at AUB. Everything that AUBSU does reflects its core values:  Ambitious, Collective, Creative, Empowering and Relevant.

Sports / Clubs and Societies / Music

AUB students can use the sports facilities at Bournemouth University, just across the road. Theres a Gym, and plenty of classes and clubs to join – see it all at SportBU.  AUB students pay the same rates as BU students.

AUBSU run lots of clubs and societies. You can even start your own if you don’t find one that suits you. AUB students can also join Clubs and Societies with SUBU – Bournemouth University Students’ Union – who have over 100.

University Music offers a wide range of musical opportunities to students, staff and members of the local community and we cater for all levels of ability and musical interests – AUB students have the same access as BU students.

What’s Bournemouth like?

Bournemouth is on the South Coast of England. We’ve got a beach, famous nightlife, thriving arts scene, and outstanding natural beauty – but we would say that, we live here!

Getting around

The subsidised bus that runs from the University is called The Bus for BU. You have lots of options for buying tickets – an annual pass, a 10 trip pass, or a single fare.

Bus travel can be paid for online using The Bus for BU key card. You can load tickets onto the key in advance and paid for online, making paying for your bus journeys easier. Register online for your key card.

Wilts and Dorset offer routes all around Bournemouth and Poole.

There are also Yellow Buses – routes 6,  25, 26 and 26 all stop close to the University.

AUB strongly supports cycling – we have 184 racks, on site bike pumps, locks, puncture repair kits etc. Bournemouth has plenty of cycle routes.

Parking on campus is not available to students – with the exception of disabled badge holders or those with a medical condition. However, the Car Park is open access to all students from 3.30pm every day and you are allowed 30 mins drop off / pick up time.
