Fashion Studies students from The Arts University Bournemouth are exhibiting their collections at London Graduate Fashion Week (LGFW) on Tuesday 7th June. One of the exciting new collections features older women modelling the designs, one being in her 80s – possibly the oldest woman ever to tread the catwalk at LGFW!
The collection in particular is by student Johanna Wulff, who creates timeless designs for women of all ages ‘who are strong individuals with a sensual femininity and are beautiful in their own right’. Johanna, originally from Sweden, is passionate about creating sustainable designs, focusing on sustainability through wearability. Johanna uses an elegant mix of clean lines and soft fluidity and it is important to Johanna that women are able to find their own personality in the garments.
Fashion Studies students from the Arts University have embraced a new initiative entitled All Walks Beyond the Catwalk, by renowned fashionwriter, presenter, producer and director Caryn Franklin, which aims to create diversity within the fashion industry. Johanna has welcomed Caryn’s initiative in this respect.
Johanna has also been shortlisted for the This Morning Viewer’s Award at London Graduate Fashion Week. One of her outfits will be seen live on ITV1’s This Morning on Friday 3rd June and viewers will be asked to vote for their favourite design.
The Arts University is pleased to welcome Caryn Franklin as an Honorary Fellow at our awards ceremony on 1st July.
