BA (Hons) Graphic Design student Jon Cleave is celebrating after being selected for the final round of the Team UK Selection Competition for WorldSkills London 2011.
After a week of competitions, Jon has been chosen as one of 40 to officially represent the UK for Team UK, WorldSkills London 2011 in Graphic Design. WorldSkills London 2011 will be the world’s largest, international skills competition with young people from across the globe competing to be the best of the best in their chosen skill. The competition takes place at ExCeL London from 5-8 October 2011 and 150,000 expected visitors will see 1,000 competitors from 50 countries/regions competing in 45 skill areas over four exciting days of competition.
Over 10,000 people entered the competition over a year and a half ago, to be one of 40 people representing different skills in the UK, one person per skill per country. As a result of being chosen for Team UK, Jon will be visiting Buckingham Palace and wotking with Purpose Design for the next three months until the competition in October.
Jon commented “The competition was very tough. I was up against some very strong design talent and won by a small margin. I am very proud to be representing the UK in Graphic Design and am looking forward to the final competition in October.”
