Commercial Photography student featured in Huck Magazine
Third year Commercial Photography student, Mark Leaver, has seen his work featured by Huck Magazine.
Picked up by the radical culture publication, Mark’s Facial Tattoos project saw him capture those involved in the often misunderstood world of facial tattoos, revealing the people beneath the ink.
Speaking to Huck, Mark said: “What makes facial tattoos so distinctive is that they are still confrontational, there’s no hiding them. There are only a select few people who make that kind of commitment and it was those people that I wanted to meet and photograph.”
For the project, Mark travelled from Bournemouth to Scotland, shooting a range of diverse characters and documenting their stories.
On his course at AUB, Mark Said: “Commercial photography was definitely the course for me, it’s really helped me contextualise the kind of work I enjoyed looking at and shooting before I came to Uni.
The plan is to carry on shooting projects after uni, and eventually get into assisting work in London with photographers I’ve met throughout my time at AUB.”
You can view the rest of Mark’s Facial Tattoos project on his website.
