Sian is currently researching for her PhD at Goldsmiths College, London, from where she also received an MA in Photography and Urban Cultures in 2010. Her research investigates the non-representational role of photography in affective spaces of home for British migrants to Melbourne, Australia.
Sian has been teaching at AUB for two years, specialising in critical and contextual studies, and has previously taught at colleges and universities in London and the North West of England.
Sian is the unit leader at Level 5, BA Commercial Photography, for Critical Analyses. She also teaches and assesses on the Level 4 units Historical & Theoretical Studies in Photography and Creative Photographic Practice, and at Level 6 on Research Paper. She is currently helping to establish a new research group for Photography at AUB.
Sian’s research investigates how and where home is encountered for British migrants in Australia. Her work explores the affective dimensions of everyday places & spaces in the city and suburbs of Melbourne. She is interested in the work of photography beyond the representational.
