James is the Senior Officer for Information, Advice and Guidance at Arts University Bournemouth. His role sits within the Widening Participation team and requires him to offer impartial guidance to students in schools and colleges focusing on creative careers and the creative labour market. His delivery consists of one to one careers advice sessions, group information sessions, lectures and seminars. The students he engages with are mainly from under-represented groups within higher education and aged from 12-19. Prior to this role, he worked for the National Careers Service, offering a range of careers guidance delivery in a Further Education College. Previously, James was the lead careers adviser in the Purbeck School in South Dorset working for the Connexions service, successfully engaging with young people in all levels of the school. Before working in information, advice and guidance, James was an area housing manager for the South’s largest housing charity, helping homeless, vulnerable and at risk young people aged 16-24 progress into independent living.
James delivers high quality and impartial careers information advice and guidance to young people, advises confidentially on a one to one basis and maintains a strong contemporary knowledge of the labour market relating to the creative industries.
