Hester graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University Contemporary Crafts degree, specialising in Ceramics and Textiles. She re-located to Edinburgh and began work at the Stills Gallery, and later for the Scottish Arts Council as Funding Advisor. Returning from a work placement in the US in 2002, brought a move to Dorset. She began teaching at AUB as a visiting tutor in 2003, as well as in other local colleges. She also ran a number of art workshops for children and adults during this time. She gained a permanent part-time position on the AUB ‘Preparation for HE’ team in 2005 where she has worked ever since, continuing to make and print in her spare time. Her main areas of interest are fashion, print and the applied arts in general.
Teaching & professional practice
I work primarily within the Fashion, Costume and Textiles pathway on the Foundation course. My areas of interest and expertise include print, surface manipulation and object/ garment construction.
