Hitesh studied Photography at the West Surrey College of Art and Design (WSCAD). Following graduation, he worked in London as a studio assistant and later developed a freelance practice in commercial photography. The opportunity to teach and share his knowledge and interests resulted in establishing photographic workshops and courses across a number of colleges. He has been actively involved in photographic education for 30 years. Higher level study followed at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design (SIAD), where he gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Photography. He later completed his MA in Photography at the University of Sunderland. He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Hitesh is the level leader for the first year of study on the BA (Hons) Photography course and contributes across all levels of the course. His teaching practice encompasses a number of key areas including history and theory of photography and fine art. He works across many of the technical inductions and practical workshops. He is responsible for the following units: Process and Materiality; History of Photography; Appropriation and Photography and Narrative and Photography. He has also previously supervised post-graduate students.
