Biography

Gabrielle has a global experience of Higher Art Education having studied in Paris (ENSAD), New York (Cooper Union) and London (RCA). Since then Gabrielle has been working freelance as an animation filmmaker and illustrator, commissioning for clients including Arte TV channel and the Opera National de Paris – with her work featuring in DVDs, print publications, and a prime time broadcast for Cine Cinema TV channel. She has produced short films selected in international film festivals such as Clermont Ferrand, Oberhausen, Tallin, Angers or Vienna. Her engagement with art education and cultural dialogue further deepened while teaching in India as Head of Art in an international school and visiting tutor at the NID (Ahmedabad).

Professional practice

Gabrielle teaches across the BA course focusing on the position of moving image within illustration practice. She particularly advocates a formal approach to moving image making, exploring the narrative potential of techniques and materials, sequence and time. New forms and platforms of contemporary illustration require an understanding of the opportunities offered by time and screen based media; she therefore supports an authorial and experimental approach to animation.

Awards
