Demeter studied for BA(Hons) in Fine Art at Canterbury College of Art and for MA Fine Art at Chelsea School of Arts, London.. Her practice involves making work from household detritus. The works tend to have a temporary aspect to them, are low tech and ad hoc. Sometimes the work is in the form of sculpture and installation but also involves drawing and film. She has worked within Adult Education and Family Learning in Dorset, leading a variety of art workshops and has also developed and delivered workshops for Dorset schools in collaboration with the Widening Participation team at AUB and Walford Mill education programme. She is now a lecturer on the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. Recent exhibitions include: Solo exhibition – Jersey Arts Centre, Channel Islands; The Art of Making – Atrium Gallery, Bournemouth University; The Art Loan, Bournemouth University; Impact 9, China Academy of Arts, Hangzhou, PRC. Currently she is a commissioned artist for Bournemouth Emerging Arts Fringe.
