Celia trained as a Social Worker at the University of Sussex and graduated in 2003 and was awarded a Post Qualification Award in 2005 by University of Chichester. Celia has worked within health, social care and voluntary sectors developing expertise in risk assessment, social work interventions and care planning to meet the needs of vulnerable adults, children and their families. Celia has primarily worked within statutory child protection services, adult substance misuse services and clinical settings across the south coast counties of Sussex and Dorset.
As an experienced Social Worker she has developed her career by taking on additional responsibilities as a Senior Social Work Practitioner over the last six years which required her to mentor, support and supervise less experienced staff and students with the aim of helping them to develop their own growth and learning to inform their own professional practice.
Celia commenced her role as Senior Wellbeing Officer at AUB in September 2016 and as part of her career progression she is enjoying the challenge and rewards of working within Higher Education.
Celia’s role as Senior Wellbeing Officer is to co-ordinate and deliver specialist advice and support to students who may be experiencing a range of social and mental health issues. Celia is able to utilize her expertise of undertaking and managing risk, specifically of students who may be ‘at risk’ and presenting in crisis; whilst identifying and implementing safe and effective interventions to support the individual.
Celia is able to provide expert advice and support to academic staff in order to promote student wellbeing and develop positive mental health awareness.
Celia’s key role is to offer practical support to students by focusing on enhancing student’s emotional resilience and self management.
