Biography

Alan studied Film, Television and Radio before specialising in Information Management at postgraduate level while working in both public and HE Libraries. Supporting the subjects of animation, film, and photography, Alan works with staff and students  to improve learning and teaching through research skills and information literacy.

Library marketing (visual media)

Creative applications of  information literacy

Media ecology and libraries

Technology and independent learning

Alan has published in Update, the official publication of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. Presented at LILAC the Librarians’ Information Literacy Annual Conference and an event for ARLIS the Art Libraries Society.

He has published in the Art Libraries Journal and presented a talk at the ARCLIB Conference and also at Salford International Media Festival Academic Conference  : Challenging Media Landscapes – Cultures and Industries of Creativity in Contemporary Media Landscapes. He gained his Fellowship to the HEA in 2017.
