“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.” Steve Jobs
When I look back at my MA journey, I realise that I have come a long way and my MA project is a product of connecting those series of dots which back then appeared to be isolated thoughts. Similarly, my decision to pursue an MA in Graphic Design after studying business seemed like a complete switch. But after a year, I can articulate that how my creative design thinking can be backed with my business acumen to contribute to some effective design solutions.
Since childhood, I have always shown a keen interest in history. So, when I came to the UK, I got fascinated with the culture of going to the museums and art galleries. However, I observed that a lot of people would rather click pictures of themselves or the art to update their social media without even sparing a thought to understand the purpose of art.
When I researched how museums are trying to stay relevant in today’s time, I immediately knew that creating another app cannot be the most fitting solution. Hence, I resolved to design a campaign around a collaboration between a museum and Instagram. It revolves around using Instagram as an established platform to urge the people to voice their opinion about the art they click and encourage them to share it with the world using the unique hashtags which would be assigned to each art exhibit so as to contribute to a sensible discussion around art.
