17th March – 20th May 2018, New Brewery Arts

On the 17th March 2018, the Lucienne Day: Living Design touring exhibition opens at its newest home, the New Brewery Arts in Cirencester. New Brewery Arts has been an advocate for all things craft in the Cotswolds since 1978. They boast an impressive range of courses and workshops, along with an exhibition gallery showing the best of British craft.

Lucienne Day: Living Design is a year-long nationwide programme curated by AUB’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Emma Hunt and Paula Day of The Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation.

In its temporary home at New Brewery Arts, the exhibition will be a photographic documentation of Day’s eminent career as a post-war designer – a career that spanned 60 years, in which she produced prominent designs for textiles, wallpaper, carpets and more. The showcase includes shots from the Festival of Britain in 1951, a platform for her pioneering design Calyx, in addition to displays of Day’s current and most recent productions.

The touring event began at AUB’s very own TheGallery in January 2017, and has previously showcased at The Museum of Carpet in Kidderminster, Manchester School of Art’s Vertical Gallery, and The Oxfordshire Museum.
