Arts University Bournemouth is delighted to announce its commitment to never invest in fossil fuels.
This commitment is part of a global effort, led by the NUS Divest-Invest campaign, to encourage all UK universities and colleges to move investment into renewable energy providers.
AUB already sources its electricity from renewable sources and has now committed to never invest in fossil fuels.
University Secretary and Director for Student Experience, Jon Renyard, said: “We are delighted to make this announcement, as part of our commitment to the environment. Sourcing our electricity from renewable sources helps us limit the impact we are having on the world around us, and we are underpinning this by promising never to invest in fossil fuels.”
President of AUB’s Student Union, Oscar Woodruff, comments: “It’s important that our institution commits to being environmentally responsible, especially as this is an issue that many students feel very strongly about.”
“This is an indication of how serious AUB is about creating a sustainable future, and I am confident that this university will continue to take a similarly proactive approach with regard to all related issues including waste reduction and sustainable food on campus.”
The NUS Divest-Invest campaign was launched in January 2016.
