Sustainable Fashion at AUB
Fashion Sustainability; ideas, discussion, debate, was a one day symposium consisting of a series of talks and workshops, organised and led by Karen Ryan, Senior Lecturer BA (Hons) Fashion.
The event brought together industry speakers, award-winning eco-fashion brands, alumni and students at the Arts University Bournemouth.
Industry speakers and brands covered a number of topics and abstracts from ‘I am Not a Hippy’ and ‘Pandas and Mayonnaise’ to ‘Design Obsolescence, Fast Fashion and the Death of the Catwalks?’
Students who participated in industry practice shared their industry experiences and discussed sustainability and ethics in relation to industry best practice and ethical comments.
The symposium drove the formulation of ideas, discussion and debate surrounding sustainable and ethical practice in the fashion industry, the impact of the product life cycle and the discussions culminated in the reflection of attitudes to sustainability from personal, educational and industry perspectives.
