A BA (Hons) Textiles graduate has won a £,1000 student bursary from The Quilters’ Guild

Emma Astill won the 2018 Student Bursary Award from The Quilters’ Guild and it means AUB graduates have taken the top prize for three years running.

The award consisted of a £1,000 bursary, an exhibition at next year’s Festival of Quilts and an article in The Quilter magazine.

Speaking about her success, Emma said: “Receiving the award for the BA bursary was a huge surprise, due to my work being taboo in its concept and contemporary in its material and technique.

“The positive feedback I gained across the exhibition from the public and professionals reinforced the importance of being individual and unique.

“This has driven me to continue my practise and feel confident in my ability and style aesthetic.”
