BA (Hons) Textiles graduates have been talking to AUB after their London summer shows. Here Lucy Ilsley discusses her work
Can you tell me about your final work?
My project was inspired by anxiety, a big topic at the moment. A lot of people are talking about mental health and I wanted to create textiles that distract people away from their worries. I used techniques like UV printing and laser cutting. I do mixed media and I mainly work with leathers and plastics. I like working with them because they are reflective. I think the shine is very distracting which makes me feel relaxed. Even though you can see it’s quite bright, I feel that makes you feel more happy and positive.
How have you found your time at AUB?
Amazing. I love this course and do not want to leave. I absolutely love it. So I’m a bit gutted to be leaving but I’m going on to the next chapter.
What are you planning to do next?
I just got offered a place at TextSelect. I don’t know what that’s going to bring but I’m really excited.
