The results are part of the Which? University Student Survey 2018 that saw more than 8,000 students across the country being asked to rate their universities.
And, when it came to being “arty and creative”, AUB’s students gave the university a score of 94 per cent to see it chosen by Which? as one of the most highly rated in the UK.
Which? says: “Universities claim big things in their prospectuses, but we went straight to their students to find out the truth.”
It added: “University is the perfect place to broaden your cultural horizons. So which universities have a creative scene to shout (or even sing) about, according to students?
“Whether it be an eclectic music scene, local galleries to lose an afternoon in, or societies to perform in on campus, these are the universities that let you express yourself.”
Which? says they asked students to score their university’s facilities for music, theatre, dance, choirs and visual arts, and the report also contains quotes from two AUB students.
One said: “It’s very encouraged to get involved in university productions. As almost all courses are creative and arts-based, I would say there are a lot of opportunities to learn new skills.”
The other said: “It’s a full arts university that includes everything from fine art to acting. If you want a creative and inspiring atmosphere, AUB is the place to go.”
Alex Hayman, Managing Director of Which? University said:” Deciding on a university is an important decision for many, and while there are different league tables that help prospective students make an informed decision, it is always best to hear from current university students.
“Students may have different priorities beyond their academic objectives when it comes to choosing a university. Extra-curricular activities can play a pivotal role in the overall student experience, so it is important they consider all factors of university life before making a decision.”
Which? said its report was put together by merging the findings from surveying in March/April 2018 with results from its student surveys in 2016 and 2017 so that it could “characterise a greater number of institutions, using a larger combined base of around 10,754 students”.
