“I just knew I was in the right place.”
Amy is currently studying BA (Hons) Textiles at AUB and applied through Clearing in 2017. She shares her experience with us.
How did you come to apply through Clearing?
“I didn’t apply to University at first because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do or if I even wanted to study in higher education. I was getting to the point where I had no idea what I wanted to do, but then I found the BA (Hons) Textiles course at AUB and it really interested me.
I was struggling with deciding what to do with my life and then I came across the course. I knew there and then that I wanted to follow my love of Textiles and become a designer once I finish. AUB feels like a place where I can make that happen.
Learning that it was possible to apply through Clearing gave me a last chance of getting in and I found the process of applying very straightforward.
I applied through UCAS and managed to get my form and a reference sorted quickly. I heard back a couple of weeks later saying I had got my place. The UCAS website had some really useful information about Clearing and that helped me through the application.
As my decision was quite last minute, it was really helpful that AUB is so close to where I live already. The course was actually the first one that I came across and it really appealed to me. I managed to have a look around the campus a week before I started and I just knew I was in the right place.
AUB is a very unique place and I really like the fact that it’s a small campus. You don’t feel lost – you really feel part of the University.”
What advice would you give to applicants considering a similar route?
“Definitely go for it! If the course feels right for you, then do it.”
