BA (Hons) Textiles graduates have been talking to AUB after their London summer shows. Here Hugo Chizlett discusses his work
Can you tell me about your final work?
It was designed for luxury yachts, the high-end market. So, very luxurious, very expensive materials like mahoganies and leathers, using all sorts of techniques and as many materials as possible to really explore what’s going on. I used laser etching, UV printing and hand quilting with leather strips.
How have you found your time at AUB?
Definitely enjoyable. After originally looking at other universities, when I first started looking at where to go, none of them matched the things being offered here with all the techniques and the tutoring and support for job applications and CVs. It was a really well-rounded course.
What are you going to do next?
A: Ideally I’d like to work on high-end car interiors. I’ve done a few projects on that before and there’s a huge market for it so it would definitely be an aspiration to go there.
