BA (Hons) Fine Art graduates talked to AUB after their London Summer Shows. Here Stephanie Hasketh discusses her work
Can you tell us about your work?
My work is based on the cultures within Britain. This one specifically is an image of Rob Halford underneath the Black Country flag, which is an area in the West Midlands. At the bottom of it is a quote from one of his songs, which is called You’ve Got Another Thing Coming, but I’ve done it with a Black Country accent, I’ve almost spelled it out.
How have you found your three years at AUB?
They’ve been really good. I’ve found it’s been a way for me to grow, because when I started here I would say I was lost with my work. Even in second year I was almost lost, and then eventually when I got to third year I got this relief of knowing this is what I’m going to do, and this is what I like. I just love the different cultures of Britain, and different people and different towns, so I started making work about that.
What do you plan to do next?
I have a few exhibitions on the way, but I’m just going to continue making art. I’m just going to continue, there’s no point in stopping. I’m going to continue exhibiting and trying to find other people to make art with.
