BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design graduates have been talking to AUB after their London summer shows. Here Claire Mashford discusses her work
Can you tell me about your work?
I made two costumes for Oh What A Lovely War. They were classically tailored so I used Savile Row techniques. I worked with a designer, Alice, and that was really good because as well as it being a theatrical piece, I was able to do military research as well. And another cool twist was the fact they were both actually worn by women.
How have you found your time at AUB?
I absolutely loved it. The course is amazing – we have amazing tutors. Because I was doing tailoring, I had one specific tutor I worked with the most and she was really good. She didn’t have designated time to us, but she helped me personally.
What are you doing now?
I’m moving back home and I’m going to be a dresser for a little while at Theatre Royal Plymouth and hopefully do some work at their space in TR2 where they have set building and costume making, and hopefully some freelance work in between.
