Poole UK Team of ‘Days for Girls’ Hosted an epic day of making on the 8th March 2019 at AUB

The Poole Team (Arts University Bournemouth, BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design) of Days for Girls is pleased to announce that it hosted  ’An epic day of making’ on Friday, 8th March 2019.

The event was held to raise funds and awareness for the Poole Team/ BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design, to support the creation of washable hygiene kits for girls and women in Ghana, Africa.

Over 250 participants worked together for a day to make over 200 kits, using the state-of-the-art equipment in the university costume studios. It is hoped that by working together with such an inspiring organisation as Days For Girls our 200+ students were able to contribute to the problem of period poverty.

Poole Team Director and Course Leader, Rebecca Pride said: “Our staff and students are delighted to be able to help women and girls in this small but hugely important way, to make a real difference by using the skills and equipment which we are in a privileged position to have acquired.”

The Poole Team, hosted by BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design, was started in December 2018 and has since created Hygiene Kits for girls in Africa.

The team was created as part of a wider initiative ‘AUB Human’ within Arts University Bournemouth. AUB Human is a space where we celebrate social, ethical and sustainable creative practice, connecting designers, architects, filmmakers and other creative practitioners who share a desire to bring about positive change for global good.
