A young Italian concert pianist is set to give a free lunchtime recital at AUB featuring works by Beethoven and Chopin

Simone Alessandro Tavoni will be performing in the South House Theatre on Friday, November 16 at 1.10pm.

The young Italian musician has attracted some highly prestigious scholarships that helped him with both his post-graduate study at a variety of top conservatoires and recitals across Europe and beyond.

Simone has performed in the United Kingdom, Denmark, Hungary, France, Spain, Malta, Estonia, Greece and across Italy.

He was awarded a place on the BBC Pathway scheme during the 2015/2016 academic year and through this, he has had the opportunity to rehearse and perform as an orchestral pianist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra – some of these performances have been played by BBC Radio 3.

Simone, who has won numerous national competitions in Italy, has also featured as a soloist with the East London Symphony Orchestra, the Kensington Chamber Orchestra, the Ashod Symphony Orchestra, the Alion Baltic Symphony Orchestra and the Luigi Cherubini Symphony Orchestra.

During the 45-minute performance he is set to give at AUB, Simone will play Sonata no 11 op 22 by Beethoven, Chopin’s Ballade no 2 op 38, Ballade by Debussy and Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz.

Admission is free.
