On Friday 30 November students and staff collaborated to host a Shelley takeover across campus, as part of the Shelley Frankenstein Festival.
For this exciting cross-course collaboration, second-year students from BA (Hons) Acting, BA (Hons) Creative Events Management and BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design hosted live performance, including:
- Event management by BA (Hons) Creative Events Management students
- A promenade performance from BA (Hons) Acting students
- Costumes by BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design students
- Written and directed by Lorna Rees with sound by Paul Keeley
Speaking about the takeover, Chris Huxley, Senior Lecturer BA (Hons) Creative Events Management said:
“A variety of scenes are being set up throughout the day in advance of a coordinated unveiling/creative sharing between 4 – 5pm. We very much hope that you will be able to join us as darkness falls and the respective ‘haunts’ come to life!”
AUB has been marking the 200th anniversary of the publication of Frankenstein with a series of events celebrating its author Mary Shelley. These included AUB Productions Mary Shelley and Blood and Ice, performed at The Shelley Theatre, a venue built for Mary by her son Sir Percy Florence Shelley, and productions Freakenstein and CTRL C, performed at St Peter’s Church, where Mary Shelley is buried.
