We are pleased to welcome Visual Artist Alicia-Pearl Cato and Fine Artist Tobi Alexandra Falade for a 'Meet the Creative Session' on Valuing yourself as a Creative. Alicia-Pearl and Tobi came together in 2019 to create a platform that aims to consistently highlight Black creativity, transform experiences of black people in creative industries and institutions, and build a Community of ambitious creatives. Alicia-Pearl Cato is a visual artist living and working in North-East London. She is the founder of a hand-painted clothing brand, The Culture Collective, and co-founder of Represent - a collective that works to platform people of colour artists and creatives. After graduating from UAL Wimbledon College of Art with a degree in Fine Art: Painting, Alicia has exhibited with Issho Kollectiv, Rim Collective, and was chosen to participate in the Clyde & Co Art Award 19/20. Cato uses a variety of processes and mediums in her work including installation, portraiture and textiles to explore themes of race, identity and Afro-Caribbean history.
Tobi Alexandra Falade is a Fine Artist producing works and events exploring blackness and global identity. In 2020 she was chosen to exhibit at FBA Futures - the UK’s largest annual survey of emerging contemporary figurative art. She showed an oil painting and bronze sculpture casted from her face for which she was awarded the Hottinger Prize for Excellent.
