Foundation’s Fine Art Pathway Leader, Sam Jackson, will be exhibiting a series of his work at New York’s Metropolitan West venue, as part of the VOLTA New York Art Fair this month, alongside fellow gallery artists Emma Bennett, Florian Heinke, and Concha Martinez Barreto.

The US show, based on the original VOLTA Basel Show in Switzerland, has remerged in 2020 with an emphasis on spotlighting artists through solo projects and tightly curated presentations.

Sam, whose work is exhibited in the UK by Charlie Smith London, will be showcasing his work among a host of leading and emerging international artists from 53 international galleries.

Sam’s work has been exhibited at the Sainsbury’s Centre for Visual Arts in Norwich, alongside artists Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, LS Lowry and David Hockney, and features in private collections in the UK, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and the USA.

Sam, who also teaches on AUB’s MA Fine Art course, said: “I’m thrilled to be showing these new series of paintings at Volta New York with my gallery, Charlie Smith London. This new series of paintings is an investigation into ‘black paintings’ through both a physical and emotive sense.

He added: “Dealing with the transgressive and poetical nature of both the historical and contemporary painting cannon, I aim to translate an emotive resonance within the viewer.”

The show runs at Metropolitan West from Wednesday 4 March until Sunday 8 March.
