“The highlight of my time at AUB was when I was Costume Supervisor for the AUB production of Blue Stockings. Set in 1890’s Cambridge, this was a large cast, historically accurate, costume heavy production. My role, whilst working with Costume Designer Annabel Lewis, was to manage and organise the costume production for the show. This meant sourcing fabrics, buying costumes, organising the team of costume interpreters, managing a budget… the list goes on. It was a very busy and demanding role but I could not have been more proud of what the whole production team created.

Although it took a brave decision to move from my home in Scotland, I am so glad that I came to Bournemouth. My time at AUB has been the most enjoyable, creative and happiest years. It has been challenging but such a pleasure learning from the dedicated and experienced teaching staff here. There is a real sense of “learn by doing” on the Costume course so a lot of the projects relate around working in a live professional environment. With the opportunities to collaborate with the Acting and Film, as well as a variety of outside professional theatre and performance companies, there are incredible opportunities for students whilst learning on the course.

I am so lucky to have a number of jobs lined up after I graduate. I have received the opportunity to work as a Costume Daily on the American television series Outlander that is being filmed in Scotland. After this I will be taking on the role of Costume Supervisor for Ar Waith Ar Daith, a performance to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Welsh Millennium Centre. Produced by the events company Walk The Plank, I will be working with Costume Designer Sarah Dicks in Cardiff, creating and supervising the making of over 175 costumes. From September I am astoundingly pleased to say I will be joining the Men’s Tailoring department at The Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon. I am so lucky and fortunate to have these opportunities as I graduate but none of it would be possible without the teaching and professional experience AUB has given me.”
