“Sewer World is inspired from the ancient ruins of the Mediterranean and Levant region. I’m Lebanese and so I wanted my final work to pay homage to my culture’s history and geography.
“This world is neither on the same planet, universe or dimension as our world. What these images are meant to evoke is an eerie feeling that questions who was, and what happened to whoever that must’ve built this now vacant and ancient-like world.
“Certain architectural elements found in these locations were substituted by lookalike elements I’ve abstracted from the sewer system. Pipes evoke columns, marble and stone is replaced by rusted metal surfaces, and finally frescos and mosaic floors and walls are represented by tile work.”
