Roderick Mills is an award winning artist, illustrator and academic. A graduate of the Royal College of Art he has worked across most areas of the Illustration industry for international clients such as The BBC, The Royal Mail, The National Theatre, Opéra National de Paris, The New York Times, Le Monde, and Penguin Books. Heart Artists’ Agents represent him both in London and New York.
Alongside Illustration Roderick also collaborates on film projects with film maker Rosie Pedlow, and has shown at various international film festivals including Clermont-Ferrand SFF, London Short Film Festival, Edinburgh Film Festival, and Festival Nouveau Cinéma Montreál where he was awarded Mention Spéciale du Jury, for his first film Immortal Stories.
In education Roderick is currently Senior Lecturer L6 Illustration at the University of Brighton, with research interests that centre on narrative forms, structures, and pictorial space – both in terms of academic writing and in practical output. Has delivered papers and lectures internationally including The Higher Education Academy Brighton, CONFIA 2013 2nd International conference in Illustration and Animation Porto, ICON8 Education Symposium Portland Oregon, USA.
Roderick joined the Board of Directors of the Association of Illustrators in 2011 and has been Deputy Chairman since 2012.
