Wilson’s work is often organic in method, mirroring the growth of the marine protozoa he so often depicts. Throughout his life he has been significantly academically engaged with education and the arts.

After staging an exhibition called After Growth & Form in 2011 with fellow artist Sam Ainsley at the Glasgow Print Studio, Wilson was commissioned by the D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum to create a new body of work inspired by their collections in the Lamb Gallery. He has worked with Stuart Mackenzie and B E Cole to create Heresies, a project exploring visual language in early 20th science and supported by theArt Fund’s RENEW scheme. For 35 years he has worked closely with a number of Educational Institutions in the UK, Europe and America, in addition to exhibiting extensively and contributing to international publications on the arts and education.

Wilson is currently a Visiting Fellow at Glasgow School of Art, where he was Head of Fine Art for over four years. Roger has also held the post of Head of the Chelsea College of Art, University of the Arts, London where he is now an Emeritus Professor.
