“Through conducting extensive in-depth research and analysis of cultural artefacts I have highlighted a connection between the concepts of Post Humanism and Body Horror. It is the conclusion of my body of research that progressional anxieties around the future of technology are often expressed through the visual aesthetic of Body Horror as a metaphor for feelings of invasion and a lack of control, especially with regard to our bodily reality.
“My project uses experimental typography and video processing techniques to create a gallery experience that is a direct response to these fears and this connection. Alongside the Post Human narrative within my work there is also a subtext discussion on the subject of Graphic Design. The use of experimental techniques within my project opens up room for a conversation around the form of the book, the linearity of narrative, the role of the designer and the expression of control that designers exert over a project.”
