In my response to the design brief, I wanted to create something for Venice. Not to serve only as an aid to peoples houses who were flooded, but to act as a symbol for the infamous flooded city. I used symbols which already represented the city, such as crochet lace and venetian masks, to influence my design. I was also inspired by the idea of using water; seeing the positive things can come out of it too, such as flower – a symbol of life – to influence my design structure. This designed structure would act as a year-round home for people in need, as well a tourist attraction which would generate money for aid for the city.
