Art and Boarding Assistant

Warminster School is looking for an Art Assistant for the 2018 – 2019 academic year (September 2018 to July 2019) to work in the Senior School and Prep School.

The position is salaried (£8,000) and includes accommodation for the whole year (including holidays) and free full board during term time.

In return, the successful applicant would be expected to contribute to the life of a busy boarding school, including doing evening and weekend boarding duties.

Experience of Art practice, including A Level Art or a relevant degree would be an obvious advantage, but it is not essential to have studied Art specifically to degree level. Any other experience in youth organisations, for example, is also desired, but not essential.

The work will involve a range of tasks including administrative duties, school exhibitions, assisting with co-curricular groups, organising competitions, exhibitions and trips as well as assisting in some class lessons. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, highly organised and will enjoy working with various pupils of all abilities, in both Art and the wider co-curricular activities.

The 2018-2019 academic year is going to be a very busy and exciting year with a range of different events, including working on a revamped programme of Art outside the classroom.

The position would suit a university student on a placement year or a recent graduate, interested in gaining experience in the thriving Art department of a leading independent boarding school. With full immersion in the school community, the role offers a great opportunity to gain vital experience if considering a career in the teaching sector. The position will include the opportunity to develop links with the Prep School as well as assisting to advance further school wide enrichment projects.
