After your application

As soon as we have received your application, an email and a letter of acknowledgement will be sent to you. This will also contain important information about ‘My Application’ – our students’ portal.

It is very important that you check the portal on a regular basis, as most communication will be via the portal or email. Once the application has been processed, we will offer you an interview (on Skype if you’re far away) and/or invite you to send in a portfolio of your work (again, this can usually be presented in electronic format if you prefer).

Portfolios

Should you be requested to send us a portfolio, we will send you detailed guidelines of what we would like to see and how to send it to us. But you can always read portfolio guidelines on the individual course pages. Please note that you will be given a two month deadline to send us your portfolio from the date that we receive your application. If you have any difficulties in meeting the deadline, please contact us.

Interview

If you are currently studying in the UK you will be invited to attend an interview on the AUB campus. On the day of the interview the international office will also provide you with a campus tour of the university and a short talk from the international team.

You may also be invited to an interview if you are not currently studying in the UK, which can be on Skype if you’re far away. If you are planning a visit to the UK and want to have an interview or visit the campus, please contact the International Office as this can usually be arranged to fit in with you (subject to you giving us adequate notice). When we arrange your interview, we will send you details of how to get here and guidelines of what to include in your portfolio, which you should bring with you on the day of your interview.

Alternatively, you may be offered an interview in your own country – you can keep up to with upcoming overseas visit on our ‘Overseas Visits near you page’.

The decision

Applications are considered (usually by the Course Leader of the programme you are applying for) on the basis of your portfolio, academic qualifications, employment experience, personal statement, references and interview (if applicable). You’ll be notified of the decision by letter and via the ‘MyApplication’ portal.

The whole process can take up to one month, but feel free to get in touch to ask for an update.
