What about Finance?

Below are some frequently asked questions about finance and the Exchange Programme.

If you would like additional information please contact the Exchange Coordinator on exchanges@aub.ac.uk

WILL I BE REQUIRED TO PAY TUITION FEES AT MY HOST INSTITUTION?

Students who participate in the Exchange Programme do not need to pay any tuition fees to their host institution and should continue paying their tuition fees to AUB for the duration of the exchange.

WHAT ABOUT MY STUDENT LOAN/Sponsorship?

You should inform Student Finance England of your upcoming exchange, or whichever international funding body or organisation is responsible for your student loan/sponsorship; your exchange should not affect any payments but you should check this in advance to make sure as we cannot account for each organisation’s rules and requirements.

AM I ELIGIBLE FOR ANY ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL SUPPORT OR GRANT?

Yes you may be – Find out more below.

Students should be advised that any funding received is only considered to be a contribution to the cost of the exchange and will not cover all expenses. Institutions in countries which require exchange students to apply for a visa, such as the USA, request evidence of a significant amount of funds when you submit your exchange application.

Remember, living costs are highly variable in different countries so it’s advisable to research and seek advice on this before departure.

Students considering applying for an exchange should also take into account their accommodation arrangements in Bournemouth and the possible implications of spending a full term overseas. Wherever possible AUB and the host partner institution will support and advise accordingly.

Any grant or funding will be subject to you returning to your studies at AUB at the end of your exchange. Students who do not return will be liable to repay the full sum of any financial support received from or via AUB for their exchange.

Funding

You can apply for a travel grant from the AUB Charitable Foundation of up to £500 and a potential cost of living grant of £150 per month up to a maximum of £500.

From 2017/18 90% of the full grant will be paid at the start of the exchange and the additional 10% will be paid after the mobility once an exchange feedback form has been completed.
