Studying at university is an exciting challenge. To help you succeed in your academic studies, AUB has a team of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) tutors who can help you develop your academic language and study skills if you use English as an additional language.
EAP support is available to all AUB EU and international students. It can help you improve your English language and study skills through:
You can book these personalised tutorials for academic-related support with essay planning, structuring and use of academic language as well as study skills advice and guidance on, for example, time management, research, organisation and presentation skills.
Small group tutorials
These tutorials offer the opportunity to work with other students from the same course and year as you. They provide academic language and skills support. During these tutorials, you are also encouraged to develop and practise your communication skills.
Study Skills workshops
These take place throughout the academic year and are open to all EU and international students at AUB. They focus on essential academic skills including:
- Assignment writing skills
- Referencing skills
- Presentation skills
- Research and reading skills
- Discussion skills
In-sessional Academic Skills Upgrade modules
These modules are designed to help you refresh, practise and develop your academic English skills. There are four separate modules: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
This 5-week course is for undergraduate degree applicants with a minimum overall IELTS score (or equivalent) of 5.5 and a minimum score of 5.0 in each component. It delivers targeted English language development and the academic skills which are key to successful study at university.
This course provides intensive, individualised English support for students studying a BA over the duration of one to three terms. The classes aim to develop general English skills, allowing students to practise their speaking, listening, reading and writing in a supportive, small group setting.
