James Cole, Lecturer on our new BA (Hons) Creative Writing course has had his book ‘Reading Through Binoculars’ shortlisted for the Dundee International Book Prize.

The shortlist for this year’s Dundee International Book Prize has been drawn from three continents, taking in New Zealand and even reaching Scotland’s most northerly tip.

Ten authors have been picked to compete for a publishing deal and a £5,000 cash prize. The competition is now in its 12th year and the winner will be announced at a gala dinner in October.

James told us more about ‘Reading Through Binoculars’ – “It’s the novel I wrote as part of my PhD and is set in Bulgaria, telling the story of a young boy who goes in search of his missing mother. I’m really pleased to be shortlisted for this great prize.”

We wish James the very best of luck!
