Every Autumn, Arts Bournemouth brings Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival to the UK’s leading resort with AUB as headline sponsor.
The festival is a rich mix of some of the best regional, national and international arts across dance, film, theatre, performance, visual arts, spoken word, literature and music.
This year, 100 students from Costume, Makeup and Acting have collaborated to produce a one-off performance inside a giant oyster on Bournemouth seafront. Free performances take place 28th – 29th September, 7pm, Pier Approach.
Singing sirens’ songs, the mermaids will lure unsuspecting passers-by towards the shell, where they will be treated to a performance of re-imagined sea shanties of old, set to the backdrop of waves crashing on the shore.
BA (Hons) Acting student Talulah Pollenne plays one of the mermaids and said: “The collaboration of over 100 creative minds has transformed us into aquatic beauties, residing in our haven – our beautiful oyster. It’s’s been hard work and an absolute whirl!”
Arts Bournemouth exists to support and develop the arts in Bournemouth. Working in collaboration with many partners, locally, nationally and internationally, Arts Bournemouth brings a programme of events during the year, which encourage a greater awareness of and participation in outstanding and engaging arts across different media and art forms. See what’s on.
