HEFCE praised MoDiP for being a museum that makes a unique and significant contribution to national and international research and scholarship, alongside the Fitzwilliam Museum at Cambridge University and the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford University.
MoDiP is the only accredited museum in the UK with a focus on plastics. As the UK’s leading resource for the study and interpretation of design in plastics, and as a specialist research resource within AUB, it’s mission is to increase understanding and appreciation of the use and significance of plastics in design during the 20th and 21st century.
Professor Susan Lambert, Head of MoDiP said:
“We are delighted to have joined such distinguished company. This award provides recognition of the significance of design in plastics as a subject area, as well as the contribution MoDiP is making to research and scholarship within it.
The funding will enable MoDiP to dramatically broaden its range and increase the depth of our contribution to Higher Education and research beyond our immediate audience at Arts University Bournemouth.”
MoDiP is free to visit and is located within the Library at the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) campus at Wallisdown, Poole, BH12 5HH. Their current exhibition, Flora, runs until 10th February 2017.
