Five graduates from BA (Hons) Costume and Performance Design are celebrating success for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, having worked on costumes for the film.

The film won the Oscar for ‘Achievement in Costume Design’ last night.

AUB alumni, Kathryn Avery (Crowd Standby), Katy Fitzsimons (Maker), Diane Logel (Daily), Gemma Rasmussen (Maker) and Robert Sutherland (Maker), worked on the costumes for the film. The film is the first of the Harry Potter franchise films to have taken home an Academy Award.

Two AUB costume alumni also worked on Allied, while five graduates worked on Florence Foster Jenkins – Fantastic Beasts’ competition for the award.

Meanwhile, four first year BA (Hons) Visual Effects Design and Production students were given the opportunity to work on Oscar-nominated, Doctor Strange.

The four students, Corin Pearce, Leah Darrington, Zach McCarthy and Fin McRuvie, were recommended by two of the course’s teaching staff, who both work full time for Framestore.
