Camouflage (2016)

Exhibition in Live Project Space

25 January 2017 – 1 April 2017

Live Project Space, AUB

An international project in collaboration with BA (Hons) Fine Art, Arts University Bournemouth, Nuova Accademia Di Belle Arti (NABA), Milan, Accademia di Belle Arti G.Carrara, Bergamo and Visual Container.

A showreel of work that was exhibited at the VegaPunk exhibition, Milan November 2016 and featured on Visualcontainer.

Originally established in 2014, The Camouflage project was born from the desire to create an opportunity for discussion between those who practice, teach and explore fine art video work in different countries and contexts.

The focus of Camouflage screening is to investigate the relationship between performance and its traces in video. With performance meaning a concept that defines an action (stirred by a person or by their absence, by an object or a situation) in a space and time given by the duration of the video. The purpose of this project is to open a network through which students can acquire experience in the field of independent production.

Richard Waring, Course Leader, BA (Hons) Fine Art  initiated the Camouflage project after discussions with Marisol Malatesta, a former visiting lecturer for the course who moved to Milan.

This project has been created by Marisol Malatesta and Simona da pozzo, they have selected and curated the works in collaboration with AUB and the other participating universities.

This project has been successfully running for the past three years, with AUB offering a two-week artist residency for two final year BA (Hons) Fine Art students. This year the residency was undertaken by Fay Turner and Avni Agarwal.
