Tuesday evening saw the opening of Pure Romance at The Redfern Gallery, London.

The exhibition, which takes its title from a painting by Patrick Procktor and is curated by Dr. Ian Massey, shows paintings, drawings, photographs dating from the 1920 s to the present-day.

It traces the development of a particular sensibility, in which romanticism and glamour, poetry and artifice, and theatricality and restraint each play a part.

As well as the work of Patrick Proctor, the show features 15 other artists including work from Cecil Beaton, Marc Camille Chaimowicz, Kaye Donachie, Silke Otto Knapp, Robert Medley, Elizabeth Peyton, and Alessandro Raho.

The exhibition runs from 2 – 27 February 2016.
